Mundo Aventura: ticketing e-commerce and QR access that cut park entry time by 60%
DataLab redesigned the online ticket purchase for Mundo Aventura, Colombia's most-visited amusement park, and connected it to QR-code park entry. The UX redesign grew online sales 80% in under a month and cut abandoned checkouts 80% from month one (figures published in 2021), and QR access reduced park entry time by 60%.

Mundo Aventura by the numbers
Figures reported by DataLab and the client for the period shown.
Context
Mundo Aventura is Colombia's number one amusement park by attendance, located in Bogotá. Its online box office, tienda.mundoaventura.com.co, is where the visit really starts: it decides whether a guest shows up with a ticket ready or waits in line to buy one. Our Bogotá team worked with the park in several stages between 2021 and 2026, always testing one question: which change in the experience moves both sales and entry?
The challenge for Mundo Aventura
There were two bottlenecks, one on the screen and one at the gate. Online, too many purchases stalled halfway and carts never turned into orders. At the park, entry was the first physical touchpoint with the brand, and it had room to move faster. Fixing only one side wasn't enough: an easy online purchase loses its value if guests still wait at the entrance.
The hypothesis
If buying online is shorter and clearer, fewer people abandon it and more guests arrive with the ticket on their phone. And if that ticket is a QR code scanned at the gate, entry time drops and the visit starts sooner.
What we did
- Audited the purchase flow step by step with browsing data to find exactly where buyers dropped off.
- Redesigned the site's user experience: a more intuitive, faster purchase flow with less friction between picking a ticket and paying for it.
- Built the ticketing e-commerce and connected it to QR-code park entry in an 8-month project.
- Optimized the shopping cart until it became a flow that sells: a cart that used to be abandoned now converts.
- Measured every stage (visits, abandonment, sales and entry time) so each next iteration was driven by numbers, not hunches.
Results for Mundo Aventura
The results came in three waves. First, the UX redesign (figures published in 2021): the site's user experience improved 300%, visits grew 70% in under three months, online sales rose 80% in under a month, and abandoned purchases fell 80% from the first month. Next, with the ticketing e-commerce and QR access, park entry time dropped 60%, and the store now sells thousands of tickets a month. And in the 2026 review, checkout optimization had grown the shopping cart fivefold.

- QR-code access
- Purchase funnel analytics
What we learned
At an amusement park, the experience starts before guests arrive. When the online purchase and the physical entry are designed as one journey, every improvement on the screen shows up at the gate. That's why every iteration is measured at both ends: the sale and the gate.
