Eternit: a secure, scalable corporate WordPress website with 15% more traffic

For five years, DataLab has developed and maintained Eternit's corporate WordPress website, eternit.com.co, with high security standards, auto-scaling infrastructure and a fully customizable design that Eternit's team updates without rebuilding the site. The measured result: traffic grew 15%.

Context

Eternit manufactures fiber cement and building systems for Colombia and Latin America. Its website, eternit.com.co, is where the market goes to explore products and construction systems. For an industrial brand with that reach, the site is not a brochure. It is a channel that has to be available, current and protected every day of the year.

The challenge for Eternit

The challenge had three parts. First, the site had to keep pace with the business without rebuilding templates every time a product or campaign changed. Second, WordPress is a frequent target for attacks precisely because it is so popular, so the site needed high security standards. Third, the infrastructure had to absorb traffic spikes without manual intervention.

The hypothesis

If the site runs on WordPress with a fully customizable design, security built into the architecture and auto-scaling infrastructure, Eternit can update its site without friction, and traffic can grow on a stable foundation, with no surprises when demand peaks.

What we did

  • Corporate WordPress website with a 100% customizable design: sections and content change without rebuilding the site or waiting on a new development cycle.
  • WordPress security best practices built into the architecture and maintained over time, not patched on after launch.
  • Auto-scaling infrastructure, so the site performs the same on a quiet day and during a traffic spike.
  • Five years of ongoing support from our Bogotá team: the site is maintained, tuned and evolved with the business instead of freezing on launch day.

Results for Eternit

The readout: website traffic grew 15%, and the partnership has now run for five years, a sign that the technical foundation holds up over time. The customizable design gives Eternit control over its own digital storefront, and auto-scaling keeps growth in visits from turning into an uptime problem. We only report what was measured: the hard number is the 15% traffic lift; the rest are capabilities delivered and in use.

What we learned

On a corporate website, security and scalability are not launch extras. They are what lets a site grow year after year without starting over. A site that is maintained and evolves with the business compounds its results; one that gets rebuilt from scratch every time it ages goes back to square one.
