Quick answer

What does a performance marketing agency like DataLab do?

DataLab is a performance marketing agency that plans, launches and optimizes paid campaigns on Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Amazon Ads and DV360. Every campaign is tied to conversion events in GA4; audiences, bids and ads are adjusted weekly; and results are reported as cost per lead, cost per acquisition and ROAS.

The problem

Problems we solve

✕ 01

Paying for clicks, not customers

Without conversion events wired in, platforms optimize for cheap traffic. The report looks good; revenue doesn't move.

✕ 02

Keywords that attract the wrong buyer

Without a strict negative keyword list, you pay for job seekers, complaints and products you don't sell. That click costs you twice.

✕ 03

One budget for everything

When every product shares a campaign, you can't tell which one performs or where the next dollar should go.

✕ 04

Reports without decisions

Reach and impressions every month, but nobody says what to pause, what to scale or why.

What's included

What you get with performance marketing

  1. Media plan

Which channel, which audience and what budget, split by product or line, with phased investment.

  2. Account setup and tracking

GA4, Google Tag Manager, pixels and verified conversion events: lead, quote, WhatsApp click or purchase.

  3. Google Ads campaigns by objective

Search campaigns built on buying-intent keywords and negative keyword lists, plus Performance Max, Shopping, YouTube and Demand Gen by objective, with conversion-based bidding, call and WhatsApp extensions, and remarketing to visitors who didn't convert.

  4. Meta and TikTok Ads by segment

Audiences by age, location, interests and life stage; lookalikes built on people who already bought, not on clicks.

  5. LinkedIn Ads, Amazon Ads and DV360

LinkedIn Ads for B2B, Amazon Ads for brands selling on the marketplace and Display & Video 360 for large-scale cross-media reach.

  6. Weekly optimization and A/B tests

Audiences, bids and ads adjusted every week, with message and creative tests so spend flows to what already works.

  7. Ad creative

When you need it, the same team produces copy, static ads, carousels and short video by segment.

  8. Dashboard and monthly report

A Looker Studio dashboard with spend, leads, sales, CPL, CPA and ROAS by channel, plus monthly analysis and recommendations.

How we work

How we work: performance marketing, step by step

  1. Week 1

    Kickoff

Account access, sales goals and ideal customer profile, agreed with your team.

  2. Week 2

    Setup

Accounts, tags, conversion events and audiences, built and verified.

  3. Week 3

    Creative

First ads and copy by segment, approved by your team.

  4. Week 4

    Go live

Campaigns running and first results read. The first 15 days of each campaign are a learning period.

  5. Months 2–3

    Optimize

Winning audiences and ads stay; what doesn't convert gets paused.

  6. Month 4 onward

    Scale

More spend only where results are proven: new products, channels or countries.

Stage timings are estimates: your project's schedule is set in the proposal.

  • Campaign landing pages, quoted separately if needed.

What a Google Ads agency should measure, and what to demand from yours

A Google Ads agency shouldn't be judged by how many ads it launches, but by what each customer costs. That's why the first thing we do isn't turning campaigns on. It's wiring up measurement: GA4, Google Tag Manager and conversion events (lead, quote, WhatsApp click or purchase), broken out by product and channel.

With that foundation, paid media gets optimized for what matters. On Google we compete for buying-intent searches and block the ones that bring the wrong buyer. On Meta and TikTok we build lookalike audiences from people who already bought, not people who clicked. Every week, budget moves toward the audiences and ads that are already working.

Ask any PPC agency for three things: full access to your accounts, a dashboard that shows cost per sale, and a clear explanation of what was paused and why.

Performance marketing agency results, in numbers

For Rubbermaid Commercial Products we ran Latin America-wide paid media for five years across Google Ads, Meta and Amazon Ads, managing close to COP 300 million a year in campaigns with ROI consistently above 15%.

For Seguros Mundial, the digital SOAT (Colombia's mandatory auto insurance) campaign sold more than COP 400 million, on a paid media budget above COP 30 million a month, returning 3 pesos for every peso invested. The brand became the second-largest player in digital SOAT in Colombia (figures published in 2021).

How our PPC agency picks the channel: Google Ads, Meta, TikTok or LinkedIn

Channels do different jobs. Google Ads captures existing demand: someone searching for an auto insurance quote has already decided they need one. Meta and TikTok create demand, reaching people by age, location, interests and life stage before they search. LinkedIn Ads reaches decision-makers by title, industry and company size. Amazon Ads serves brands selling on the marketplace, and DV360 delivers cross-media reach for large campaigns.

The media plan defines each channel's role in the funnel and assigns budget by product or line, not one lump sum, so you know what deserves more next month. If you're not sure yet who to target or with what budget, start with digital marketing consulting. If you're a US company selling into Latin America, a nearshore paid media agency in Colombia adds regional market experience, and Bogotá's clock (UTC−5, no daylight saving time) keeps us within an hour of New York all year and two to three hours ahead of California.

Frequently asked questions

Performance marketing: frequently asked questions

01

How much does a PPC agency charge?

At DataLab, paid media management is a monthly fee set by tiers of your total media spend. Media spend is separate, and you pay it directly on each platform. Ad creative, landing pages or CRM integration are quoted separately if you need them. The detailed proposal is free of charge.

02

How much should I spend on ads to start?

There's no single number: it depends on your product, your market, the cost per click in your category and your lead or sales target. We recommend starting with a contained budget to test audiences, messages and formats, then increasing spend in phases only when the data shows what works.

03

How long until campaigns show results?

Campaigns go live in week 4, and the first 15 days of each campaign are a learning period when platforms underperform. Results typically start showing within 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how mature your channels are. For measurable, stable results we recommend a minimum of six months.

04

Who pays for media and who owns the accounts?

You do. Media is paid with your card directly on Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or Amazon, and the accounts, data and creative belong to your company. DataLab works with admin access, signs a non-disclosure agreement and handles information under Colombia's personal data protection law (Law 1581 of 2012).

05

Which ad platforms do you manage?

We manage Google Ads, Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Amazon Ads and Display & Video 360 (DV360). We pick the mix by objective: Google Ads to capture existing demand, Meta and TikTok to create it, LinkedIn Ads to reach B2B decision-makers and Amazon Ads if you sell on the marketplace.

06

What is ROAS and how do you measure it?

ROAS (return on ad spend) divides the revenue attributed to paid media by the media investment. To measure it properly we connect GA4, the ad pixels and your CRM or store, and record every sale with its source campaign. Alongside ROAS we report cost per lead and cost per acquisition in a live dashboard.

07

What if I already have campaigns running?

We start with an audit of your accounts: structure, conversions, keywords, audiences and creative. We don't shut down what works. We fix tracking, prune keywords and audiences that spend without converting, and reorganize budget by product, without pausing the campaigns that already deliver results.

08

Can you manage paid media in multiple countries?

Yes. We ran Rubbermaid's paid media across Latin America for five years, managing close to COP 300 million a year in campaigns with ROI consistently above 15%. DataLab is headquartered in Bogotá, with a presence in Mexico, Peru, Chile and the United States. We usually validate one market first, then scale to the rest with what we learned.
